Wong's first two specials were built on marriage and motherhood. Then the marriage ended, and she had to rebuild her comedic identity from scratch. The divorce material is her doing exactly that—honestly, messily, and with the same fearless specificity that made her famous.

She talks about dating as a recognizable person, where every potential partner has already seen her describe her ex-husband's anatomy on Netflix. She talks about the logistics of co-parenting while touring. She talks about the moment she realized she was single for the first time in her adult life and had no idea what she was doing.

The bit works because Wong doesn't try to make the divorce sound empowering or tragic. It's both, and neither, and mostly just complicated. She treats her own life change with the same analytical eye she brings to everything else: unflinching, specific, and funny enough to make the audience forget they're listening to someone process genuine pain.
