Apple Juice
“Apple juice—it's a C-minus beverage.”
Buress delivers an extended, seemingly pointless analysis of apple juice that somehow becomes profound. His thesis: apple juice is a lie. It looks like a premium beverage but it's basically sugar water. It comes in a box, which is the packaging equivalent of giving up.
He traces the trajectory of apple juice in American life: it's for children, it's at every kid's birthday party, it comes with a tiny straw that doesn't work, and adults who still drink it are making a statement about where they are in life.
The bit is peak Buress: deadpan delivery of observations so specific that you can't believe anyone thought to articulate them. He's not trying to be funny—he's trying to be accurate. The laughter comes from the audience recognizing that he's right about something they never thought about.
It also demonstrates his structural approach. The bit builds slowly, each observation more precise than the last, until the audience realizes they're four minutes deep into a conversation about apple juice and they don't want it to end.
