In what many consider the greatest stand-up special ever recorded, Pryor performs a bit about his recent heart attack that transcends comedy into something closer to performance art.

He doesn't just describe the heart attack—he becomes it. His body contorts. His face twists. He recreates the moment of clutching his chest, falling, the panic of feeling your body betray you.

Then Death shows up. Pryor voices both himself and Death, having a conversation as he's dying. Death is reasonable, almost friendly. Pryor pleads for more time. They negotiate.

The bit is simultaneously the funniest and most harrowing thing on the special. Pryor found a way to process his own mortality through comedy, to make an audience laugh at the very thing they're most afraid of.
